the lake The Lake Model based Photography Model: Paper, Wood, Paint, Glue C-Prints on Dibond, RGB on OPALfoil 2010 The work is based on one of my childhood memories. I grew up in the area next to Salzburg. This particular area is called "Salzkammergut" and it is coined by very beautiful lakes. The region has been a very famous tourist area from the end of the 19th century on till the beginning of the 80s of the last century. During a period of growing economy a lot of architectural construction was done by the municipalities around the lakes to be an attractive place for the people who visited this places. Hotels, theme parks and diving platforms were built in nearly every village around the lakes. When flying became more and more cheep and also common the areas around the lakes became suddenly less attractive for tourists and with less tourist there was less money. The municipalities are forced to spend less money and a lot of the architectural environment around the lakes were closed. The hotels were sold or now are used to give a home to asylum seekers and the diving platforms are waiting for deconstruction companies - over the time it became dangerous to use them. |

sea of ice Sea of Ice Model based Photography Model: Paper, Wood, Paint, Glue, Mirrors C-Prints on Dibond, RGB on OPALfoil 2010 Sea of ice is seeking for a very romantic idea of what nature might be. The work has a relation to the famous painting of Casper David Friedrich in which the artist gave us an idea of a very romantic but also disturbing nature. The few on nature has changed dramatically in the last centuries and decades. Over a long time nature was disturbing and often dangerous for the people. In the case of C. D. Friedrich nature became a display for the feelings, the inside and unknown in the human being. In our days the few on nature is often the few on a destroyed world. Nature is forced to what we want and killed by thoughtlessness. Especially in the case of the seas of ice it is very clear how our few on the world around us has changed. |
